HELPING STUDENTS CONNECT WITH JESUS
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation is a tradition to explore God’s Word and the importance of living a Christian life. A major focus for a young teenager is learning to think for oneself and develop their own identity. Confirmation is at the cusp of this stage of life. The goal of Confirmation is for students to learn, reflect, and affirm their faith. We also hope they recognize that following Jesus is a lifelong journey. Confirmation is not the end. Instead, it is the beginning of a relationship with Jesus. At Community, confirmation is meant to propel students into the next step of their faith journey.
We value confirmation as an opportunity for students in 6th-11th grade. It is an intentional two years of discipleship covering both the Old and New Testament (one per year.). It also consists of five key components (see below). Students are welcome to join at any time and can be confirmed after they complete the following:
-
Attendance at weekly class;
-
Reading through and discussing the big picture of God’s story twice a month with a mentor;
-
Participation in our confirmation retreats;
-
Serving at church and in our community with others in your class, and
-
Completing a small paper and pastoral interview about your confirmation experience.
Confirmation meets at 8:30-11:30am during the school year. Confirmation Sunday is celebrated during the last Sunday in April.
YOUTH GROUP
SUNDAY MORNING
We empower students to full participation in the church. Our weekly worhsip service is at 10:00am. They can also help with kids church, care for kids in the nursery, run the production equipment, help with the hospitality team or participate on the worship team.
