Why Does the Resurrection Matter?
As Jesus rode into Jerusalem riding on a donkey, the crowds asked, “Who is this?” Jesus had asked his disciples a similar question, “Who do people say that I am? And what about you? Who do you say that I am?” What would you say?
I think it’s safe to say that Jesus wants us to wrestle with the question. The way we answer influences our worship, our priorities, our resilience in suffering, and our love for others. Who we believe Jesus to be determines who we become. If Jesus is merely a teacher, we may admire his words and adopt a few of his ideas. If he is a moral example, we may try harder to imitate him. But if he is “the Son of David,” the King who comes in the name of the Lord, then he is not just someone to study—he is someone to trust, obey, and follow.
This Easter Sunday we explore the question, “Why Does the Resurrection Matter?”
